A slip ring is a device that allows current to be transferred between the generator and the rotor without physically connecting the two parts together. Thanks to the slip ring, current can flow continuously between the rotating rotor and the fixed generator, so that the electrical energy can be transmitted without interruption.

The use of slip rings in wind turbines is important because the movement of the rotor changes continuously with the change of wind direction, but the current transmission must remain stable so that the generator continuously produces energy. Therefore, slip rings are crucial for efficient and reliable wind energy conversion.
